The Environmental Working Group (EWG) publishes studies and lists each year to help consumers make informed choices with their foods. This one specifically shows which fruits and vegetables hold the highest levels of pesticides and other chemical residues even after washing and peeling. EWG also does a Clean 15 list with the cleanest options. Visit their website for more information on the specific parameters for their lists.
These are the foods that you really should try to purchase organically, or even grow your own if possible.
