Oskri Organics Coconut Bar

The Oskri Organics coconut bar

I saw this little gem on the shelf and couldn’t resist. I was a bit surprised as our small-town grocery store doesn’t usually carry too much outside the typical mainstream products.

This is the Oskri Organics coconut bar. Oskri makes several types of organic foods, but in their snack bar line there are a pretty wide range to choose from. They have coconut, protein, fiber, sesame, fruit, honey and chocolate bars. And in each group, there are several flavor options. So you can get coconut pineapple, sesame and molasses, or honey and flax seed. Basically, there are tons of Oskri Organics bars to choose from.

oskri organics barsThis review is specifically for their regular coconut bar. Do you like my festive fall photo display? Those are mini pumpkins, and the bar is about 3 inches long.

As I can’t eat wheat or gluten, I am always on the look out for snacks and whatnot that I can eat. Most cookies, crackers and granola bars are all out for me so this one caught my eye due to the nice label in the corner. It was a little pricey for a little snack bar ($2.99 CAD, if I remember) but I couldn’t resist. So now I have enjoyed my treat and will share my findings.

The outside

It was fantastic. The chocolate on the outside was rich and dark. Definitely not a sweet milk chocolate. Very nice. Inside it was all coconut, but wonderfully soft and chewy. Really it was one of the most delightful treats I have eaten in a long time. Though it is a bit small, it was a satisfying snack because the coconut is so dense. I will definitely be buying these again and I am going to stay on the lookout for some of the other varieties.

The inside

Unfortunately, I misplaced the wrapper so I can’t list the ingredients for you as I had originally planned. I’ll update this post if I find it. More likely, I’m just going to go buy another bar.

If your local supermarket or health food store doesn’t carry them, you can buy them at Amazon.com. You do have to buy a small box of them but I doubt you will have trouble finishing them off.

Update: On purchasing a few more of these, I can share the ingredients list:

  • Coconut
  • Rice syrup
  • Dark chocolate, containing:
    • Sugar
    • Cocoa liquor
    • Cocoa butter
    • Soy lecithin (an emulsifier)
    • Vanilla

All ingredients were marked as organic. Nice, simple and healthy.
